Bye Bye!
Every Tuesday night is Jacob's family dinner night. Not everyone makes it every time, but it is nice to have a set time to see them since our schedules are all so different. It keeps up all close to one another and up to date on each other's lives. It is always at Jacob's oldest sister's house, who lives in a neighboring town about 20 minutes away.
We usually try to leave by 8:00 or so in order to get Sophie home before she gets too grumpy, but sometimes we get sidetracked. Tonight would be one of those nights, and before we knew it, it was already almost 9:00. However, I would not have even noticed the time had Sophie not come up to me and grab my legs, a sure sign she wants to be picked up. Once I had her up, she looked over at her aunts, waved and said "bye bye", blew them a big kiss then looked up at me like "Okay, I'm ready to go now". She is a little woman who knows what she wants! Needless to say, shortly thereafter we picked up and headed on home, with Soph snoozing in the back.

wouldn't it really be nice if we could all do that, though? just be honest enough with ourselves and others to know when we really want to leave a place, look up, say "bye bye" and then be gone. (especially if it comes with a driver so that i can nap in the back seat.)
Wow! If only all kids would know when enough is enough. :D
