I'm Playing the Blame Game

It's Jacob's fault. Really, it is. I swear it is entirely his fault that I got pulled over on the way home. Why is it his fault? Because he had called me to tell me that he had a surprise waiting for me at home. I love surprises. I go crazy for surprises. Knowing this about me, knowing what kind of irrational behavior surprises instill in me, he still called to taunt me about his surprise. The irrational behavior this time included being totally oblivious of the state trooper as I flew through town on my way home for my surprise. So oblivious, in fact, that I PASSED him in my fervor to get home. Nothing like flying past the police officer to get his attention. So I got pulled over.

I would now like to state for the record that I have never received a speeding ticket. I would also like to state for the record that I was beyond mortified.

So I call Jacob quickly to tell him that I am going to be late getting home and why, and as I am rolling down the window to face the trooper he is asking me who pulled me over. I told him it was a state trooper and I didn't know him and didn't think that Jacob knew him either. Apparently the guy heard this last part because as I was turning to face him he asked why he would know Jacob. I told him that Jacob was an officer in town and that I was never, ever going to hear the end of this. And that I was very sorry and very embarrassed. He asked me if I knew why I had been pulled over, and while thinking of my surprise waiting for me at home I replied "Speeding, I am sure." That is when he told me that I had passed him, and I once again reiterated how embarrassed I was. I think my face was literally flaming by this point, such was my level of mortification of being pulled over right in front of city hall.

Luckily the man was nice to me and only gave me a warning. I am quite sure this is because of Jacob, because I am also quite sure it would have been a well deserved ticket. I also know that cops talk a lot, because the guys Jacob works with knew that I had been pulled over and how fast I was going before Jacob even got back to work today. Jacob has informed me that they can't wait to see me. But I'll tell you this, I'll take a hard time over a speeding ticket any day of the week.

As for the surprise, it was a number pad for the lap top, as I am lost without one. Only now whenever I look at it I blush. Did I mention this was all his fault?

You are a lucky girl! And I'll bet everyone talked about how cute you were when you blushed.

It sounds like a set up to me.

Hehe... I agree with Theresa. That does kinda sound like it might have been a set up.

I am glad you only got a warning though. I have only been pulled over once and thankfully all I got was a warning as well. Although, I didn't pass the cop. :P

It wasn't planned but I'll go ahead and take partial blame for it even though Andi can sometimes be a speed demon without me for encouragement. I am, however, taking all the credit for her not getting the ticket.
