Out and About

The trip I had to take for work went well. We had NO cell phone service so it was difficult to call and check on the kids, so I was relieved when I finally found and old school pay phone and chucked three dollars to call and make sure they were doing well. They were, of course. Even Keegan, who I had worried over and prayed about for weeks to do well apart from me. What a relief!

The work part went well too. The actual conference was not run well, but the rest of the time bonding with the kids was fantastic. We had nine high school kids that went which means we all stayed up way too late around the fire laughing and telling stories, but the best part was that in between all that they really opened up and we had some pretty serious discussion on values and respect which was simply amazing. I was up there with some of the other people I work with, including my friend Emily and her son Ethan. They were much fun to hang out with, though at times I was so busy with the kids that I didn't get to see them as much as I would have liked.

I was glad to come home, and not long after I got home Jacob did too. Nice timing!

I had a bout on Saturday that was a lot of fun. I'm not sure what you may have read at (ahem) some OTHER blogs, but I was simply more aggressive than normal, something that my teammates have been encouraging for some time.

Jacob just left a bit ago (sigh) but I have another busy week planned. The kids and I are going to St. Louis with my mom, aunt and grandmother. We have a visit to the zoo planned among other things, I am pretty excited to be going.

Mom got a new stroller for kids for their birthdays, it is pretty much amazing and will probably make my life a LOT easier, especially with Jacob gone.

With all this going on- I still managed to stay on top of my 90 day Bible plan. In fact- I'm a day AHEAD. How are you all doing?
That's it, I'm all talked out. I'm off to check up on your worlds now.

I can vouch for Ms. Andi. She was reading her bible in a dark tent with raccoons scurrying around each night. She was also very engaging with the youth we took and I love that she is SOOOO good with them. Props to her - it's hard to relate to teens.

Glad you had a nice weekend with Jacob, the kids & your bout. Sorry we missed it. I'm laying bed with strep-throat. Not cool.

Have a great time in St. Louis!!!!

I'm praying for you! I did the same thing when Andrew was on his last workterm. It was for 19 weeks. Some weekends the weather was crappy and he didn't make it home.

I hope you get every moment you can with him this summer. It makes it easier that way.

It gets easier as time goes by. I found I had to adjust to having him home all the time in the end.
