My little Care Bears

The kids are all tucked into bed after coming down off their Twizzler and Skittle high. To be honest, I'm not much of a fan of Halloween. It's cute for the wee ones but I get tired of seeing older girls use it to dress up like "Imahoe Barbie". But I'll step off that soapbox to tell you that Sophie wasn't really digging the whole thing at first. She was Love a Lot Bear and Keegan was Brave Heart Lion, characters from her favorite show on the planet, but it didn't matter. In fact, she refused to get out of the car without first removing the darling Care Bear ears I had so lovingly constructed for her. Then she insisted that she be able to carry not only her bucket, but Keegan's as well. Then she proceeded to instruct me that she also just HAD to have her new baby doll, Hannah. And her diaper bag for said doll. Only after all of this was she finally willing to grace anyone with her royal, Care Bear presence.

Keegan wasn't really thrilled either. Maybe something to do with the fact that I tied a cheap, Chinese manufactured "mane" on his head and paraded him around town. I don't know if that's it or not, I'm just guessing here, people. He was cute though!

We only went around to a few houses. Grammy Vicki, Momma Sherie and Pop and Sean and Monica. I should note that at Sean and Monica's they returned a pair of Sophie's socks that we had left over there and Sophie insisted that they stay in the trick or treat bucket all night. They are still in there, actually.

Jacob had to work tonight, as our little town has a city wide event called "Boo in our town that starts with a B". HA- I almost slipped up there. Basically this is where the local merchants on the square set up tables and sticky kids and harried parents are prodded through long lines, very reminiscent of a cattle chute. Parents like it because they get trick or treating out of the way in one place. Kids like it because it's chaos. People like Jacob and I loathe it entirely because there are a thousand people shoved into one block. That being said, I made sure to drive by Jacob while he was directing traffic to point at him and laugh. No one can accuse me of being a neglectful wife!

He was already less than thrilled because he had to wear his dork hat and tie tonight, (which I actually think makes him look quite snappy) with his day-glo orange traffic vest (not so snappy). Add that to the fact he was in THE MIDDLE OF THE THRONG of people made his night a little...um.... crappy. He seems to have gotten over it though as he just pranced in the door to bring me some hot chocolate, gloating over the fact that he just ran down some junior high kids out teepeeing and made them cry. Such a humanitarian, that man of mine. Though I should add in his defense that they just cried because they thought they were going to be in big trouble, not because he was a jerk. At least to hear him tell it that's the case.

Anyway.... I hope you all had a happy Halloween. I'm off to bed now, hoping to fall asleep over the puppies snoring.

I love all of Sophie's demands. She knows what she wants, huh? The costumes are perfectly sweet :)
